Ranking

The important driver behind globalization is international competitiveness. Rankings of higher education institutions (HEIs) are ordered by various performance measures. Rankings are most often conducted by orga¬nizations, governments, or academics. In addition to ranking entire institutions, organizations perform rankings of specific fields, departments, and research groups. Various rankings consider combinations of measures of research excel¬lence, impact, study programmes, and other criteria. Some rankings evaluate institutions within a single country, while others assess institutions worldwide. The expanding diversity in ranking methodologies indicates the difference of ranking usage and acceptance.
They are considered as manifestation of global competition and are used as a policy instrument influencing national and international partnerships and collaborations. There are different types of University rankings with different sources of publication data such as Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics) & Scopus (Elsevier)
