Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) Azrieli Global Scholars Program

The Office of Research, Innovation and Development is pleased to bring to the attention of the University Community the CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars Program. The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) is a Canadian-based global organization that promotes international research collaboration among early career researchers who are pursuing answers to some of the most complex challenges facing the world today. The program provides funding, skills training, mentorship and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from diverse disciplines to position scholars as leaders in academia and beyond.

The scholarship package includes:

  • $100,000 CAD in unrestricted research support
  • A two-year membership in a CIFAR research program: a global network of outstanding researchers
  • Opportunities to network, collaborate and form a community with colleagues from a range of disciplines
  • Mentorship from a senior researcher within a CIFAR research program
  • Specialized leadership and communication skills training and support to put skills into action.

Application Requirements
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or its equivalent) and must have served not less than five years in a full-time academic appointment.

Eligible Fields
The program requires that Scholars’ research interests are aligned with the themes of an eligible CIFAR research program. In 2018, the eligible programs are:

  • Gravity and the Extreme Universe
  • Bio-inspired Solar Energy
  • Molecular Architecture of Life
  • Azrieli Program in Brain, Mind and Consciousness

Application Submission:
