Research Development Officer

Emmanuel Osadu Ghartey is the Research Development Officer (RDO) responsible for the West Africa Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP-Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology) in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences.

My job description at WACCBIP include:

  • Head of WACCBIP secretariat staff/Chief administrator and supervision of support staff
  • Liaise with ORID and UG procurement on centre’s business
  • Communication on behalf of the centre (letters, emails, applications)
  • Coordinate student recruitment and placement
  •  Identify grant and fellowship opportunities for faculty and students of the Centre
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of grant proposals
  • Provide administrative support for centre grants, including reporting and ethical Compliance
  • Monitoring and evaluation of WACCBIP output indicators
  • Preparation of dossier highlighting major research news or activities related to the Centre

I hold a MPhil in Soil Science and a BSc in Agricultural Science (Soil Science Major) from the University of Ghana, Legon. Prior to joining ORID, I was a Soil Pedologist with the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA). I can be reached on : eoghartey@ug.edu.gh
