Google Donates $25,000 to Support Research at UG

The University of Ghana (UG) has received an Unrestricted Gift of $25,000 from Google to support research at the University.

This follows a Master Framework Agreement between Google and UG led by Dr Jamal-Deen Abdulai of the Department of Computer Science to support several projects at the University of Ghana totalling $100,000.

The Unrestricted Gift is part of Google’s efforts to support excellent research in academia and allows the University to apply the funds to strengthen its strategic objectives of intensifying research.

The Master Framework Agreement signed in July 2022, enabled members of the University community to respond to an expression of interest Call from Google for participation in a virtual Research Collabs Africa Program workshop.

The Research Collabs Africa Program aims at supporting research in areas such as Climate/Sustainability, Machine Learning, Machine Perception, and Natural Language Processing, Responsible AI, and other related research areas.

The University of Ghana is grateful for the generous support from Google and looks forward to strengthening this partnership for the benefit of researchers and students.
