Research Development Officer

John is a Research Development Officer at the Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID) at the University of Ghana. He is the Team Leader for the Publications, Dissemination and Translation (PDT) Team.

As part of his mandates, he leads the process of ensuring the timely publications of novel and impactful research news and stories, the development of snapshots of key research statistics, and strategies on how to improve institutional culture on research community engagement while creating an environment of support for excellence in research translation and community engagement.

He joined the University in June 2012. Prior to his new role, he was responsible for ethics and research dissemination where he facilitated the establishment and coordination of various University of Ghana’s ethics committees. He was also the coordinator of the Development Research Uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa (DRUSSA) programme where he facilitated research uptake and utilisation activities at the University. John was also responsible for providing data to ranking agencies for the purposes of benchmarking and ranking of the University.

He graduated from the University of Ghana with a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and Philosophy (2000). He holds a joint MSc in Computing from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool Hope University. He holds another MSc in International Business & Emerging Markets from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. John also holds an MPhil in Science and Technology Studies from Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

Before joining the University, John worked with several multinational organisations in the United Kingdom and Ghana.
