Conference Grants
Review and Award System
- Applications shall be received and reviewed on a quarterly basis per the schedule in table below.
- All applications received in the relevant academic quarter will be reviewed together and grants awarded to the most deserving applications. Applications shall be reviewed/considered per the existing rules and regulations, and the final decision communicated to applicants.
- An average of 10 grants may be awarded per academic quarter.
- In the event that grants in a particular quarter are not utilised, they shall be rolled over to the following quarter.

NB: If you wish to attend a conference in August, September or October of a given year, your application must be received by close of day on 30th June of the previous academic year.
Application Procedure (Attending & Organising)
Grant applications may be made via the online application system at: https://grant.ug.edu.gh/
Please download the CONFERENCE GRANTS ONLINE SUBMISSION GUIDE and read carefully before proceeding to apply.
Required Information
The following information is required for completing the application:
Attending
- Abstract of paper to be presented (if applicable)
- Confirmation from conference organiser of acceptance of paper to be presented (if applicable)
- Confirmation from conference organiser of sessions to be chaired(or other significant role to be played) by applicant (if applicable)
- Detailed budget
- Travel itinerary/Ticket
Organising
- Description and Purpose of the conference
- Justification for holding the conference
- Names of the organiser and organising committee members
- Participation*
- Expected results*
- Provisional programmes and time-table
- Authorisation or request for holding the conference from a national or international body (Documentary evidence must be provided)
- Detailed budget, including:
- Total cost of participating in the conference
- Expected financial contributions from other sources, such as registration fee to be charged etc.
- Transport for participants
- Entertainment
- Other costs
- Please take note that after your application, you are required to notify your Dean and HOD to endorse the application. They are to follow the GUIDE for Unit Heads to endorse the application
NB: Stationery and typing expenses (to be borne by the organizer's department/institute/school)
After the Conference
Upon return from (or hosting of) a conference, applicants are required to submit a report, within a month, on their participation in (or organisation of) the conference, using the Conference Reporting Form for Attending a Conference or for Organising a Conference.
