Title: "Next Generation of Academics in Africa: Enhancing the University of Ghana's Capacity to Deliver Post-graduate Research and Training"
The contract for the project was signed in October, 2010, and implementation began in November 2010. The overall goal of the project is that Ghana specifically, and Africa as a whole, are assured of a pool of high calibre academics to generate, safeguard and transmit knowledge from one generation to the other. The University of Ghana's purpose for this grant is to enhance its capacity in research and post-graduate training.
The project's focus is on three disciplines: Computational Science, Biosphere Science and Sociology. These were selected on the basis of national development needs, the University of Ghana's current strengths and opportunities for increasing post-graduate student intake.
