Capacity Development for Disease Outbreak and Epidemic Response in Sub-Saharan Africa, in Collaboration with Africa CDC (CSA2020E)

The Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID) is pleased to announce to the university community that the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is inviting proposals for Capacity Development for Disease Outbreak and Epidemic Response in Sub-Saharan Africa, in Collaboration with Africa CDC (CSA2020E)

Purpose of the call

This aims to establish an African cohort of epidemiologists by supporting institutions in sub-Saharan African and Europe that provide master’s training and epidemiology and biostatistics. Within this, proposals should also consider the global COVID-19 crisis.

Eligibility:

A proposal/application will only be considered eligible if:

  1. its content corresponds, wholly or in part, to the topic/contest description for which it is submitted
  2. it complies with the eligibility conditions for participation set out below, depending on the type of action:
  • The application must have at least one legal entity established in a Participating State* or a sub-Saharan African country.
  • The maximum duration of the grant is 36 months
  • The maximum duration of the master’s programme is 30 months (including research component).
  • The requested EDCTP contribution per action should not exceed EUR 50,000 per student, with a maximum total budget of EUR 750,000.***

***NB: Proposals can be submitted by a single institution or consortium of institutions which must provide master’s training in epidemiology for 10 to 15 excellent, early- to mid-career researchers (“EPI Fellows”) based in sub-Saharan Africa and working in a relevant field.

Call budget:

The budget is €5 million. Grants are worth up to €750,000 each, with a maximum of €50,000 per student.

Deadline:

The submission deadline is July 30,  2020.

Mode of Application:

The application must be submitted online via EDCTPgrants.
Only registered users of EDCTPgrants system can apply for grants and therefore you are advised to register on the system as soon as possible.
