CALL FOR APPLICATIONS HUBERT HUMPHREY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME (2019-2020)

The Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID) wishes to inform the university community that the U.S Embassy has announced the “Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme” for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Fellowship is a mid-career professional development programme established to enhance the capacity of professionals from designated countries in Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe and Eurasia. 

 

Nature of Fellowship

The fellowship is a 10-month non-degree academic programme developed specifically for small clusters of Humphrey Fellows at selected U.S universities. During their year-long stay at a host university, Humphrey Fellows are invited to take non-degree graduate courses relevant to their professional interests. Participants spend a considerable portion of their time engaged in professional development activities including: consultations and affiliations with U.S faculty and experts, field trips, workshops, research projects and the development of practically useful strategies that could be applied in the Fellow’s home country.

 

Fields of Study

The fields of study under the Humphrey Fellowship include the following:

  • Sustainable Development
  • Democratic Institution Building
  • Education
  • Public Health

 

Eligibility

  • A graduate of an accredited university or college with a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Ghanaian citizen and resident of Ghana as at the time of application
  • A minimum of five years of full time professional experience
  • Limited or no prior experience in the United States
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and broadly defined commitment to public service
  • English language ability

 

Testing of English Language

Selected finalists will be required to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam before, during and after submitting the applications. Finalists must be prepared to take the TOEFL exam soon after interviews. The exam fees will be paid for by the programme for finalists ONLY.

  1. Complete the Humphrey Information Form and email to AccraExchange@state.gov with the Subject Line: ‘Humphrey Application Form’  
  1. Women, individuals from rural areas, and under-represented groups including individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply (reasonable accommodation will be provided for individuals with disabilities interested in applying).
  1. Send an email to AccraExchange@state.gov with the Subject Line: Assistance-Humphrey Program and indicate the nature of assistance needed in order to apply (for those with disabilities)

 

Deadline

The deadline for submission of applications is Friday June 29, 2018

  • There will be a screening process for all applications received and ONLY shortlisted applicants will be contacted and invited for an interview.
