Call for Applications: EDCTP Innovative Approaches to Enhance Poverty-Related Diseases Research in Sub-Saharan Africa (REF: RIA2020I)

The Office of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID) is pleased to announce to the University community that the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) invites applications for its call on innovative approaches to enhance poverty-related diseases research. This supports small- to medium-scale clinical trials or clinical research studies that deliver proof-of-concept or validation of smart, highly innovative technologies or concepts to prevent, treat or diagnose Poverty Related Diseases (PRDs) in sub-Saharan Africa. Proposals may address any disease or group of diseases within the scope of EDCTP.

 

Proposal eligibility criteria:

Proposals may address any disease or group of diseases within the scope of EDCTP.
Proposals should include one small- to medium-scale studies in sub-Saharan Africa.
Proposals that combine medical and pharmaceutical technologies with other scientific areas such as mobile technologies and digital technologies, big data processing, and other emerging technologies are particularly encouraged, as are proposals involving small- or medium-sized enterprises. Within this, proposals should also consider the global COVID-19 crisis.
Applications must consist of at least three legal entities, two of which must be established into different participating EU partner states and one in a Sub-Saharan country.

Value and duration:

The total budget is €23.4 million. Between five and 15 grants are available. Projects must start by 1 October 2021 and be completed by the end of 2024.

Application is due on 13 August 2020 by 4pm.
